Basically, it's impossible to put attach a fixed number for bowl payouts. Since bowls negotiate individually with conferences, the payout to each team is usually different.
There are also variations between expenses, some bowls require you to buy fewer tickets than other bowls so you can save money that way.
As far as dividing the payout goes, I believe what happens is a school gets to keep half of it's bowl payout, and then splits the other half equally among conference members. So we'll only get to keep half of the Copper Bowl payout -- but we also get money from K-State's Fiesta Bowl and OU's Cotton Bowl, etc, so some of it evens out.
