Veteran defensive end Jerry Hughes is returning for a third season with the Texans.

Hughes' signing was listed on the NFL's transactions wire Monday, with no contract terms disclosed.

Hughes, the Sugar Land native and Fort Bend Austin graduate who turns 36 on Aug. 13, joined the Texans two years ago after a nine-season run in Buffalo.

Hughes' still playing reminds me of a conversation I had with a long-time NBA player. I asked him how long he would continue, and he replied "As long as they pay me a $million to sit on the bench".
