University of Houston coach Kelvin Sampson can see the growth in his team.

“We’ve had a lot of things happen that required pain, discomfort, and uncertainty, but you get through that,” Sampson said after the 14th-ranked Cougars beat BYU 86-55 on Saturday. “Once you come through that, it shows who we are now.”

Who the Cougars are right now: a team on a six-game winning streak entering ESPN’s “Big Monday” game against TCU at Fertitta Center.

Whether or not we take advantage of it obviously remains to be seen, but we couldn't have better circumstances heading into this IMO. Off a lucky win, ZERO to lose, UH feeling reeeeal good about themselves at home. This is a potential bizarre upset setup. Hopefully we can put a great effort forth.

Were as tough as we could be, for most of the game, but dang that's a gooood defense and rough place to play. Doesn't help when Houston shoots hot. Left us virtually no room for errors. And there were errors, for sure. Which we need to decrease.

Chin up, we've fought. Probably exactly where we should be through the first 3 conference games. Even prior to Collins getting hurt, I don't think anyone had us beating AZ or UH on the road.

Not a surprise. I hope CJD can keep some of these players around. They have lots of potential (I hope; not really knowledgeable about basketball team building).

If UH can stay healthy, they are no doubt a final 4 team. And the fact that they've won 31 straight home games is just crazy.

This game went about how I thought it would but I did see glimpses from us... Gotta hope we can hold on to some guys and build for the long term. I sure do miss the days of being optimistic about seeing a freshman play and then likely seeing him play for at least 3 more years.
