Houston Chronicle: Kansas St., Oklahoma in lead for Big 12's best bowls
The Big 12's chances for two spots in the Bowl Championship Series got a brief scare Saturday before Oklahoma escaped with a 52-45 win over Oklahoma State in overtime.
The conference has no guarantees of earning an at-large spot to go along with the regular-season champion although the odds are a lot better after Clemson's loss to South Carolina later Saturday night.
Kansas State (10-1, 7-1) can win the Big 12 (and its automatic bid to the Fiesta Bowl) with a win over Texas on Saturday. Oklahoma (9-2, 7-1) could get the title with a win over TCU if Texas pulls the upset.
Of the 10 BCS spots, the SEC and Pac-12 will have two each, Notre Dame and the champions of the ACC, Big East, Big Ten and Big 12 take up the next five. A conference can have no more than two teams in BCS bowls. ...
