Hoover to the portal

Promised lot’s of money not made
There’s a difference
For Hoov, he actually made the money (paid). They talked about it on SXM College radio this morning. Full Ride.
When the Tenn deal came up last year, they were working on it. Sounds like he and his dad pushed real hard to get even more money to stay and there were hurt feelings over it. Sounds like he was more than ready to bolt for Knoxville.
So much for his sentimental comments last year.

But, Hey, hate the game, not the player playing it.

How come Hoover hasn't said as much? Seems to me he'd be the one defending himself and saying, "yeah, unfortunately I feel I have to leave TCU because they promised me XXXX amount of dollars and then didn't deliver. So I feel the need to move elsewhere."

Instead we get a grammatically challenged mystery person appear and say, "TCU didn't live up to their promises. Ask around." Linebacker39 is this you?
because its not true. he was paid. and paid more.

They got a vote, too. They voted to run off on the night, taking their toys with them and leaving rumors of unfulfilled commitments on the part of TCU in their wake, while abandoning his teammates without a thought.

Screw 'em.
I had a blast watching the Division 3 National Champ game last night. It was fun to watch, the kids played their hearts out and it also finished in a reasonable time frame.
No nonsense, no talk of portal garbage, just football.
I'll be watching the FCS Champ game tonight. In today's world of streaming, etc., I'll be watching more of the "lower divisions". Because I'd take the $100 handshake days over the insanity FBS has turned into. They have guys getting offered more than a late first round draft pick.

Was I supposed to type something here?

Exactly! A Monday Night Football game worth watching for a change!

Missed the divison 3 games, but plan on watching the Montana State - Illinois State game tonight and maybe I'll actually listen to the broadcast if there's truly "no talk of portal garbage". Seems to be a regular topic when watching any FBS game and it's like a kick to the crotch for me.

I have sxm and plan to listen to their radio broadcast while it is on tv.

As someone from the rodeo culture, it's crazy how many fans the cats have beyond their state and alumni. I think Flint Rasmussen has a lot to do with that. They and the Griz benefit greatly from the frequent free advertising they get via him talking about them.
If the Griz and Cats ever face off in the final (which I'm not sure that can happen - was semi this year), I hope that game is back in Frisco. Those fans, and NDSU for that matter, are a blast.

Last year’s 4/5star transfer QBs by their 2024 overall rating per 247sports. Looking at 2025 QBR and how their new and old teams did in 2025.

  1. Iamaleava – 98 ovr….123.5 QBR.…UCLA 3-9/Tenn 8-5
  2. Beck – 96 ovr….161.7 QBR….Miami 12-2/Georgia 12-2
  3. Mateer – 95 ovr….129.4 QBR….Oklahoma 10-3/Wash St 7-6
  4. Mendoza – 93 ovr….184.7 QBR….Indiana 14-0/Cal 7-6
  5. Sagapolutele – 93 ovr….131.6 QBR….Cal 7-6 – Oregon 13-1
  6. Kromenhoek – 93 ovr….Did not play….Miss St 5-8/Florida St 5-7
  7. Mensah – 92 ovr….153.6 QBR….Duke 9-5/Tulane 11-3
  8. Murphy – 92 ovr….117.8 QBR….Oregon St 2-10/Duke 9-5
  9. Weigman – 91 ovr….147.1 QBR….Houston 10-3/ Texas A&M 11-2
  10. Gronowski – 91 ovr….126.4 QBR….Iowa 9-4/S Dakota 9-5
  11. Moss – 90 ovr….133.6 QBR….Louisville 9-4/USC 9-4
  12. Pribula – 90 ovr….134.6 QBR….Missouri 8-5/Penn State 7-6
  13. Arnold – 90 ovr….121.7 QBR….Auburn 5-7/Oklahoma 10-3
  14. White – 90 ovr….Did not play….Baylor 5-7/Auburn 5-7
  15. Noland – 90 ovr….Did not play….S Carolina 4-8/Ohio St 12-2
2025 Hoover – 93 ovr / 153.4 QBR / TCU 9-4

Looks to me the QBs typically have good years from a QBR perspective. But their overall success is determined by the pieces around them. I think out of the 15 QBs 5 had better overall success at their new location. Beck, Mateer, Mendoza, Mensah (debatable), and Gronowski. I cannot ignore the fact Hoover outperformed two of those QBs and going to the school that had #1 QB, but it is risky to jump ship to a team losing so much in talent. But we will see!

Plenty of MSU players getting money. Probably the highest of all the FCS teams

If I had spent four years grinding at TCU in football and academics and having graduated, I would want to go somewhere else for a refresh - someplace different to reinvigorate - staying at TCU is stale compared to a change of environment with a new campus, city, staff and way of doing things for a lift and to push me. It is good for personal and football growth. And his Class of 2025 classmates and friends are leaving, moving on, having graduated like him. I would feel like I don’t belong there anymore.

Second - I would go where I am confident they will have a good offensive line for pass protection and running game, like the 2022 Frogs, something Hoover has not had and again looks questionable for 2026 at TCU.

Third - I suspect he has dreams of a shot at the NFL, so that change for the better is going to offer him a better shot of realizing that - why compromise my NFL chances with an offense that isn’t making my job easier and letting me shine brightest.

If you strip away dear attachments to TCU and any fear of change, it is a no-brainer.

This year's semifinal playoff matchup was the first ever playoff game between the two teams.

My daughter's FIL played QB for the Cats many years ago. He's there with his wife (and maybe his younger son?) for tonight's game.

Yeah, Flint said the Cats fans are doing their best to drink Nashville dry. lol.

they really have jacked that place up. Had thought about a trip up there a few years ago but it just got crazy busy up there.

Guess I'll look at Wyoming (I have ranchers in my family, don't judge) or South Dakota for a get away.
Wyoming is great. Black Hills are crazy busy. Having lived in Cody for several years, I'm partial to Wyoming. Big Horn Mountains are a still relatively undiscovered gem. But stick to the northern part between Sheridan and Lovell on 14A.
