Hoover is an "expected No. 1 overall pick" in the 2027 NFL draft?

I still struggle to believe that you're saying he wouldn't have won in the same way here as he is at Indiana. It will take a while for me to square that concept.
I know. I would say I wish I had a time machine to go back to 2021 and tell TCU to hire Cignetti, but I think if I had a time machine I'd use for something more important.

Like alerting the referee in advance that Diego Maradona would handle the ball into the net in the 1986 World Cup quarterfinal...

I'd go to the late 90s and buy every bit of Nvidia I could get.

Here is some portal transfer rankings. TCU is #20

i

20. TCU Horned Frogs

2025 record: 9-4, 5-4 Big 12

Top portal addition: Jaden Craig, QB, Harvard

The Horned Frogs moved quickly after losing Josh Hoover to Indiana and secured the top FCS passer in the portal in Craig, a two-time finalist for the Walter Payton Award as the best offensive player in the subdivision. The All-Ivy performer threw for 6,074 yards with 63 total touchdowns and just 12 interceptions as a two-year starter with the Crimson and was a projected Day 3 pick if he had entered the NFL draft. TCU coach Sonny Dykes wants to go in a more pro-style direction on offense with new OC Gordon Sammis, and they found an ideal fit for that plan with a proven fifth-year senior.

There's 5 Frogs at the combine.
A. Hoov aint our headache any more.
B. I was told that we didn't have any pro prospects.
We've got two players in the Top 200. McAlister and Clark. Both are expected to go on the 3rd day, 4th round at best but probably lower. No lineman, either side of the ball, anywhere on the radar. But yeah, we were pretty loaded with talent.

Everyone here seemed to think McAlister was pretty awesome. He's like the 25th highest rated WR.

That’s completely laughable! Hoover is barely 6’-1”, less than 200 lbs..
He is frail by NFL QB standards, and can’t run at all. Hoover will be lucky to be a late round draft pick.

Here is the author of that so-called article. I doubt he even shaves yet.
He was likely impressed that TN. made a good offer that Hoover turned down,
so Hoover must be a #1 pick.

If JJ McCarthy, Sheduer Sanders, Tua T., Gino Smith, Kyler Murray, Justin Fields and Tyler Shough are all starting QBs, than Josh Hoover has a chance, too. And the list of backup QBs is even more embarrassing. I can't remember when QB play in the NFL has been as bad as it is it now. The '70s?

I doubt Josh will be an All Pro, but I bet he can have a nice NFL career as a backup/spot starter at the minimum. Chase Daniel did it for 15 years. AD may come back again next year for Carolina. Josh has a chance, too.

A big part of the reason that it was so frustrating that Boykin couldn’t stay out of trouble. I think he would have had a great pro career. He showed flashes of brilliance, but his off the field stuff was too much, even for the NFL.
