Has anyone seen my specialty plates?

That is cool, but winning a BBQ competition in NY is like marrying the hottest girl at fat camp. All this proves is that Texas BBQ is superior to any way New Yorkers cook beef. There are probably hundreds of BBQ places across the state that could win that competition if they were the only Texas BBQ shop in the competition. Good for Heim, though. I've never had a meal there that wasn't excellent. Love his story and glad to see him succeed.
You think this competition was a bunch of New York restaurants, and just Heim?

I’m hearing this was completely unrelated to Diddy’s troubles.

Not sure if I’m allowed to share this yet or not, but since we’re mostly anonymous on here, it’s probably OK. Found out over the weekend that my wife was chosen to be honored as part of the Cheez-It and College Football Playoff Foundation’s “extra yard for teachers” program. Players from across the country nominate a teacher who inspired them growing up and four are picked. Filmed the kid surprising her at school this morning. Got some swag and a big check (for her classroom and school) and I was promised that a case of cheez-its would be arriving at the house soon. Plus they’re flying us out to Mississippi to see a game later this Fall. Pretty cool stuff. My job was to make sure she didn’t leave the house in her usual TCU shirt this morning. lol.

Too bad she couldn't wear that shirt for the surprise video. TCU was the star of the greatest Cheez-It Bowl in history. It would only be fitting. And congrats to the old lady. That's quite an honor. Also congrats to the student. For him to have been able to articulate his case well enough for her to be selected is a testament to both him, and your wife. Very cool.

On a sad note, just saw that Pete Rose passed away. One of my favorites of all time. I hate it that he behaved in such a way as to not get into the Hall while living. Maybe now he will get inducted.

He better go in next year. It's way too long overdue. I'm less bothered by his behavior than I am the HoF voters who want to disregard greatness because of sticks up their butts. I get the steroid era to a certain extent, but even then there are guys who were clearly some of the greatest ever before the juice and dominated in an era where 90% of the league was on the same stuff. Give them busts in Cooperstown in a special steroid era hall. There their names will be shamed for eternity bc they cheated, but they'll also be remembered properly in history as some of the greatest to do it.

I understand the opposing view but I like that baseball has upheld their view that betting on baseball is a line that can't be crossed.

Shoeless Joe had a .356 career batting average and struck out 150 times in 5,000 at bats. He has been left out of the Hall all these years even though there is some ambiguity to his offense (did he actually accept money? His Series stats were very good, etc.).

Rose, on the other hand, knew clearly that betting on baseball carried a lifetime ban from the Hall but he did it anyway.

I understand that I hold a very black and white position, but I think there is honor in not going back on a clear rule.
