That is cool, but winning a BBQ competition in NY is like marrying the hottest girl at fat camp. All this proves is that Texas BBQ is superior to any way New Yorkers cook beef. There are probably hundreds of BBQ places across the state that could win that competition if they were the only Texas BBQ shop in the competition. Good for Heim, though. I've never had a meal there that wasn't excellent. Love his story and glad to see him succeed.

So from what I read, it was more like an awards banquet than an actual BBQ competition. There were no cookoffs or anything like that. It was hosted by Certified Angus Beef at a resort in NY. I don't know how or win they picked the winners.

All relatively valid points, but I'm certain this was a national awards event hosted in NY and not a NY based BBQ Competition.
