By best all-around rock band I assume you mean best all-around pop band pretending to play rock and roll?

As far as Van Halen with Sammy goes - these are not rock and roll lyrics.

This is a rock band impersonating Bryan Adams or a song from Grease:

Summer nights and my radio
Well that's all we need, baby, don'tcha know?
We celebrate when the gang's all here
Ah, hot summer nights, that's my time of the year

And this is a rock band impersonating Bro Country:

I got a line, you got a pole
I'll meet you down at the old fishin' hole
Them girls are bitin' good tonight
Ow uh oh whoa yeah

And this is a rock band doing an impersonation of Jeffrey Dahmer:

Oh, I know you wanna touch
I got to have a little taste
I just wanna sink my teeth in that
Fine piece o' real estate. Yeah

I don’t think we could be friends. lol.

When Covid started my brother, a friend and myself would have a few beers and Zoom over discussing “lists”, because, everyone loves lists. We had a great time until one of us actually had to go back to work and we couldn’t sit with an 12 pack on Zoom on a Tuesday evening.
Topics we covered,
Top 10 All time : bands, songs, movies, comedy movies, sports movies, movie performances. FroginLaw really wouldn’t like my bands list. Very Grunge heavy.

Let’s give it a start so this thread stays at the top of the page. Take your time, think about it.

He didn’t say Sammy Haggar Val Haaa... oh my. Yes he did.

Wow, Frog in law. Wow. I’ve never heard that opinion before. Sammy Haggar Van Halen is just bad. What, you think Adam Lambert is a better fit for Queen than Freddie Mercury?

It’s out there, I know. Especially from a guy whose favorite band of all time is Van Halen with DLR (or maybe U2...close call). But it’s undeniable that Sammy’s got a better voice and adds to the sound because he can play lead guitar if he needs to. They flamed out pretty quick, but their first 2 albums are really really good, but they got [ Finebaum ] on because no Roth. Best band ever? OK, maybe I was going for the shock jock approach there. (And before Peace jumps back in, I could give a [ Finebaum ] about lyrics. Everybody in the history of music, except Bob Dylan, is overrated if that’s your criteria).

Edit: I don’t know who Adam Lambert is, but I liked Queen. Not Top 10 or anything, but good sound.

To be fair, froginlaw has inhaled too many fumes from his smokers and his opinions should not be trusted. Except for his take on Green Day, Steve Miller and the Eagles. He’s spot on there.
Glad I checked back. I had a feeling you would hit Steve Miller and the Eagles. lol

Was watching the When H-ll Freezes Over concern that was replayed on tv a few weeks ago. Thought crossed my mind: "Peace would probably not watch this one."

Your grunge pop/punk rocks comments I feel are directed right at me. Definitely what I grew up with

Not bagging on Van Haggar. Liked some of those years. But I was more appreciative, I guess, of the DLR years. And am convinced I am the only one on this board who likes the Eagles (music) and liked (some) of Steve Miller.
