My freshman year, got pepper sprayed, drug pole down anyway. Some nice young ladies tried to help by pouring water on me, which made it so much worse. But they took me back to a dorm and tried lotion, to make up for the error. Was an amazing evening.

Was also my freshman year - an amazing game and night. Hoisted my buddy up onto the goalpost cross bar, and he was still hanging there as it tilted and we were both pepper sprayed by a "I was a big deal in high school" type of cop. Another friend then absconded with the endzone pylon, which he still has in his office to this day.

They were at least not hit with batons by the Sheriff deputies when students and players went to tear down the goalpost after beating Texas in 1992. I suspect a few people ended up in the hospital after that incident. From what remember, that win was the first TCU over Texas in about 25 years.

I’ll never forget before a game when I think it was at a radio coaches show or Frog Club luncheon GP said that he wanted fans to come down and celebrate with the team after they beat Utah or Baylor. Sometimes I wonder if he knew about about the post game issues with the Texas and SMU game. By the way, TCU did win the game and a bunch of students and fans like myself stormed the field after the game and nothing happened at all.

Does anyone know if the Sheriff deputies are allowed do game security or is still just TCU PD and Fort Worth PD? I know for a while TCU did not allow the Sheriff deputies to do security after those incidents.
I think that was the Utah game....And a lot of west siders who were in the 50+ age bracket leisurely strolled on the field after carefully navigating the front row rail....Careful of hips? Didn't know how to storm after many years of no reason to? LOL....I didn't try it, just watched with glee from the cheap end zone seats....

And yeah, the first win over UT since 1967 in Austin....

I don't believe the county sheriff's office has been invited back to campus since the beating and macing....
