If you have work in a big company, you'd understand there are some people that somehow made a whole lot of money despite not really knowing much about how the company operates.

Some people get very lucky in life and are given chance after chance. Let's not forget Sonny was given a job here after he got fired from Cal in 2017. Cal paid his buyout of close to $6 million). Think the Sonny Cumbie connection helped.

Being here, he got lucky again when Morris decided to take the Arkansas job, opening up the SMU job. He even claimed to be a SMU fan growing up in his introductory press conference with them. Not that that has anything to do with us. But just weird how it all happens. He definitely got out of dodge at the right time. SMU fans were tired of him.

Dykes is of just those guys that always seems to land on his feet no matter how incompetent they may be. We see it in the construction industry a lot.

UNC may have arrived 3 hours earlier but where you take off from makes a difference on your clock. TCU may have sat on Tarmac for another hour and transfers to Acoms could be another hour. Once again taking off in the middle of the country vs the east coast not the same conditions. Taking off for an international flight at 1 in the morning vs just b4 9 pm for teens is not the same conditions.

Prob was 2-3 hour shorter flight for UNC also.

They also basically posted nothing on Instagram after the first touchdown. I think it's a bit cowardly when teams don't post the final score when they lose if they are posting during the game.

I like our social media team but they were about as good as our team was yesterday. Fumbled this one.

This has been a gripe of mine forever. I use social media to track the various sports teams that I follow. When they win it's all over the place, when they lose I can't find squat and have to assume the worst.

He may not be as dumb as some on her make him out to be but he isn't as great as you think he is apparently. You love bringing up records, take out 2022 because that is clearly an anomaly at this point, and he is 56-59 in conference play as a head coach and 4-4 in bowl games. That's extremely average. Ok well, did anyone predict he would do well at SMU? Did anyone predict GP would do well at TCU? How many predicted Cignetti would win the NC last year?!

For the record, my friend said nothing about him winning a CFP game but that’s because neither he nor I were even thinking of that given the season that precipitated SD’s hiring.

But we are told they (the Pros) fly in 48 hours earlier. They report they do (2-3 days) and if they do it is stupid. I think the 49rs as an organization know more about int travel than most of the NFL

Then why fire the legend if the expected result is having to fire the replacement in 4-5 years? You’re hitting on the root of why so many of our richest donors (who likely know how to build an organization and be highly successful) were opposed to the handling of that situation. Because it was a predictable result. You’re exactly correct in saying it’s predictable that we would be firing the replacement in 4-5 years. You’re catching on! It’s the principle of “the devil you know” that said we never should have gone down this stupid road. Yes GP was hard headed and yes the program wasn’t living up to his own standards and yes it was driving him nuts. But he hadn’t given up and statistically we would likely only get the same results from whomever we hired that led to the firing. So love the one you’re with and find a way to move through the season you’re in that isn’t what anybody expected and fo win again together. That’s what a legacy coach that built the program deserved to expect. That’s what a bunch of guys who could be driving our NIL program at the level of Texas Tech expected. And the fact we went down this road means we will be firing SD and then hiring another one and getting about the same results over and over and over…until someday we will get lucky and land another legacy coach. I think GP had given up. Look at the staff he had assembled. Mostly just as stale as can be. Kenny Hill as a QB coach? And the way he handled Zack Evans, I mean what the heck? His team had quit on him, I know that. Don’t you think it was time? Why hasn’t he been able to land another job?

You don’t go into a hire expecting to fire the guy in 4-5 years, but it’s not like it’s all the unusual when it happens.

And as “bad” as our prior AD was, he got a huge raise when he left here so he must’ve been doing something right.
