GoFrogs: TCU Scores 5-2 Win over Lobos
FORT WORTH, Texas – Despite dropping the doubles point, the TCU women's tennis team stormed back and got five singles victories to pick up the 5-2 win over New Mexico on Sunday afternoon inside the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center in Fort Worth, Texas.

The Horned Frogs (3-0) remain undefeated on the season as they scored four of the victories against the Lobos (0-2) in straight sets. New Mexico got the early advantage in the match as they used early leads on two of the doubles courts to take the point into singles action.

TCU did not stay down for long as freshman Ellie Douglas made her debut on the top court and picked up a 6-3, 6-1 win over Ruth Copas. Fellow newcomer Kate Paulus continued her dominant singles streak by scoring a 6-4, 6-1 win on court four to push the Frogs into the lead, 2-1. New Mexico got a win on court three to even up the match, but back-to-back wins from freshmen Mercedes Aristegui and Addy Guevara clinched the overall match victory for TCU. After the match was over, Aleksa Cveticanin picked up a win of her own on court two with a three-set win over Hsiang-Wen Huang.

Quotes from the Match
Head Coach Lee Taylor Walker
"I am really happy for our team and the way they got through their third match in six days. This past week was a lot with it being the first week of school and also having two new team members arrive just three weeks ago. There has been a lot of patience and flexibility by everyone involved and I'm proud of our staff for really keeping things together and positive this whole week.

"We had opportunities in doubles to extend some early leads, but failed to do so and New Mexico ended up taking the momentum and rolling with it. For us to respond with some convincing wins in singles after dropping the doubles point is something we can remember all season long and use to our advantage. Ellie (Douglas) and Kate (Paulus) were dominant and Mercedes (Aristegui), Addy (Guevara) and Aleksa (Cveticanin) had some great resiliency closing out their matches. There are always things to improve on and we will get to work, but not until after everyone gets refreshed and rejuvenated the next few days."
