FORT WORTH, Texas – Early leads in doubles action followed by straight set victories in singles paved the way for the No. 42 TCU women’s tennis team’s third straight victory with a 4-0 win over North Texas on Monday night at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center in Fort Worth.
The Horned Frogs (9-5) raced out to major leads on all three doubles courts against the Mean Green (4-7) with Aleksa Cveticanin and Aleksandra Zenovka getting TCU off to a winning start with a 6-1 victory on court three. Stevie Kennedy and Marie Norris finished off the doubles point for TCU and improved to 6-0 on the season with a 6-2 victory on court two.
TCU carried the momentum into singles as they scored the first set win on five of the six courts. Donika Bashota picked up win No. 16 on the season as she put the Frogs up 2-0 in the match with a 6-0, 6-2 win on court three. No. 123 Zenovka came back from being down in the opening set to get the 6-4, 6-0 win on court two for point No. 3 in the match and also her 16th singles win of the season. Kennedy proved to be the closer in singles as well with the freshman getting the 6-3, 6-3 win on court five.

“It's always a tough match with Coach Lama and his North Texas team. He was without their No. 1 tonight and I believe that really hurt their team’s spirit at first. We were able to take the doubles point pretty quickly and get up on them. It looked like it may be a quick match but to their credit their team fought hard and made three to four of the matches very competitive. We are at a halfway point now and need to get everyone healthy. That's our primary focus the rest of the week."
