GoFrogs: Women's Golf Wins Tourney Championship

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- The TCU women's golf team won the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational Tuesday in San Antonio with freshman Sabrina Iqbal a co-medalist.

Playing through mist, temperatures in the 40s and winds at 25 miles per hour, the Horned Frogs captured their first tournament title since the 2016 Greenville Regional Preview in Greenville, N.C. It's the 19th tournament title in the 25-year tenure of head coach Angie Ravaioli-Larkin.

The Maryb S. Kauth Invitational was shortened to 36 holes after Monday's second round was canceled due to rain and unplayable course conditions.

TCU's 5-over-par 581 gave ita seven-shot victory over Marshall.

Horned Frog of the Day
Iqbal, in just her second collegiate tournament, finished with a 1-under 143. The San Jose, Calif., native had a pair of birdies en route to a final-round 75. She tied Marshall's Shelby Brauckmuller and Kerri Parks for medalist honors.

Iqbal is the 11th different Horned Frog to win or share a tournament championship in the Ravaioli-Larkin era. It's the 25th individual title overall under Ravaioli-Larkin.

Quote of the Day
"I am so proud of our team," Ravaioli-Larkin said. "They are so deserving and fought hard today.

The weather conditions were brutal, but it didn't faze them! This is just a result of the hard work and discipline they have shown in practice and workouts. Well played TCU!"

The Run Down
TCU had three finishers in the top six. Annika Clark, the lone senior in the TCU lineup, was just one stroke off the pace and tied for fourth with an even-par 144. She had a birdie and shot par on 13 holes en route to a final-round 76. It was the seventh career top-10 finish for the Highlands, Texas, native.

Greta Bruner was sixth with a 1-over 145. It was her third top-10 finish in the last seven tournaments. Her 74 was TCU's low score on the day. The junior from The Woodlands, Texas, totaled three birdies, including her final hole.

Freshman Valeria Pacheco tied for 18th at 7-over 151 in her second collegiate tournament. Her final round included a birdie.

Grace Do shot par on 13 holes on the way to a 77 for the Horned Frogs. She tied for 20th for her third career top-20 result.
