GoFrogs: TCU Opens Strong at NCAA Regional

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --
Sabrina Iqbal's 4-under 68 led the TCU women's golf team into a tie for fourth place after Monday's opening round of the NCAA Regional in Albuquerque, N.M.

The top-four teams and two individuals not on an advancing team will move on to the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship May 20-25 in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Iqbal's 68 was one stroke shy of a TCU postseason record 67, shared by Valentine Derrey (2008) and Sanna Nuutinen (2014). Iqbal, who earned her TCU degree in entrepreneurship and innovation on Saturday, posted four birdies and par on 14 holes. She is three strokes behind leader Briana Chacon from Oregon, who carded a 65.

Catilyn Macnab set a TCU season record with her sixth eagle. It came on the par 5, 485-yard 14th hole. Macnab had four birdies en route to an even-par 72 and a tie for 13th.

Trinity King and Valeria Pacheco both had a pair of birdies in posting 76s for TCU.

Live scoring of Tuesday's second round is available HERE. TCU's tee times begin at 9 a.m. CDT.
