ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- The TCU women's golf team is in position to advance to the NCAA Championship after Tuesday's second round of regional play in Albuquerque, N.M.
The Horned Frogs posted a 3-over 291 and are in a coveted top-four standing with 18 holes to play. TCU is one shot ahead of fifth-place Florida and five strokes better than Arizona and Sam Houston State. The top-four teams and two individuals not on an advancing team will move on to the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship May 20-25 in Scottsdale, Ariz.
TCU graduate Sabrina Iqbal is tied for fourth on the player leaderboard with a 3-under 141. She began herround with a birdie, one of two on the day, en route to a 1-over 73.
Caitlyn Macnab's 1-under 71 vaulted her into a tie for sixth. The freshman from Johannesburg, South Africa, recorded both of her birdies over her final six holes. She had par on 15 holes to make her 2 under over herlast 15.
Lois Lau also posted a 71, lowering her score by six strokes from Monday's opening round. She was 3 underthe opening six holes and finished with a team-best six birdies.
Valeria Pacheco posted her second straight 76. She had three birdies in a four-hole stretch on the front nine, before closing play with her fourth and final birdie.
Trinity King opened and closed her front nine with her lone birdies on the day.
