GoFrogs: TCU Finishes as Runner-Up at Collegiate Invitational at GCC
GUADALAJARA, Mexico – TCU took a trophy home to the United States.
The 23rd-ranked Horned Frogs finished as the outright runner-up at the Collegiate Invitational at Guadalajara Country Club in Jalisco, Mexico.
TCU shot a 287 (one-under) in round three – the top score of any program in the 11-team field – to finish at four-under 860.
The Frogs entered Saturday's final 27 holes level with No. 11 Virginia (-2, 431). TCU separated from the Cavaliers via a collective five-under on the back nine, carding 12 birdies and an eagle to finish seven strokes clear of the tournament-host.
No. 12 Florida State claimed the outright championship at 10-under 854.
TCU notched its fifth straight top five team finish with Saturday's result. The Horned Frogs have brought home hardware in three of six events in the 2024-25 campaign, having claimed the team title at the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational and Jim West Challenge during the fall.
The Frogs put three in the top 10 of the individual leaderboard for the first time all season.
Meagan Winans placed a solo sixth (-2, 214) after shooting a three-under 69 in her final round. TCU's lone senior, Winans finished four-under over her final 13 holes and punctuated her stay south of the border with a birdie on 18. She attained her second top 10 of the season and her career, matching her career-best low-54 hole score along the way. Winans was a tournament-best four-under on par-4s and bagged 12 birdies – the third-most of any player.
Kirstin Angosta and Sofia Barroso Sá tied for eighth at even-par.
Barroso Sá largely solidified the solo second for TCU. She birdied 17 and holed out an eagle with an eight-foot putt on 18 to vault into the top 10.
Angosta began the afternoon tied for seventh at minus-two. She shot a one-under 35 on the back nine in the final round to maintain her top 10 positioning.
Barroso Sá achieved her fifth career top 10. She and Angosta have tallied a team-leading five top-20s this season.
Freshmen Camille Min-Gaultier and Gracie McGovern tied for 11th (+2, 218) to round out TCU's showing. Both players turned in a countable score in all three rounds.
Min-Gaultier has turned in a counter in a team-best 16 of 17 rounds this season and 11 straight dating back to the Horned Frogs' team triumph at the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational. She has cracked the top-20 of the final leaderboard in four straight events and finished no worse than 25th in six starts.
TCU had all five players post top 15's for the first time this season. The entirety of the Horned Frogs lineup has finished inside the top 20 of the individual leaderboard in two straight events and in three of the team's last four tournaments.
The Horned Frogs topped the field in par-3 scoring (-2, 2.97) and par-4 scoring (+7, 4.05) and carded a tournament-leading 51 birdies.
