GoFrogs: WinStar World Resort Named Presenting Sponsor of the Legends Club and Suites

FORT WORTH -- TCU Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Jeremiah Donati has announced WinStar World Resort as the presenting sponsor of the new Legends Club and Suites set to open this spring.

TCU's Amon G. Carter Stadium's east side expansion includes the Legends Club and Suites presented by WinStar. The new facility includes 48 loge boxes with two private clubs, more than 1,000 club seats and 22 luxury suites. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place March 28.

"WinStar and TCU Athletics are both big contributors to the entertainment and hospitality landscape in North Texas," Donati said. "WinStar has been a tremendous partner to the TCU family over the past several years. Their support of our stadium expansion and becoming the presenting sponsor of the premium spaces therein further aligns our two brands in a way that will bring enhanced entertainment and hospitality experiences to the greater community."

It's a partnership with impact beyond the football stadium and university.

"WinStar is committed to bringing the best multi-faceted entertainment experience to not only the people of North Texas, but visiting alumni and fans across the nation," WinStar General Manager Jack Parkinson said. "The Legends Club and Suites presented by WinStar is intended for use year-round by donors, alumni and the business community. By supporting this expansion project, we are helping to bring an enhanced entertainment experience that aligns with the TCU Athletics Department's goals."

Donati said the new facility will be used year-round for internal functions as well as community events, business functions, conferences, large board meetings, weddings and more.

Amazing. A casino connection.

Several generations back while I was a TCU student, some very influential people who were at the age that I am now would have looked at this connection with extreme disfavor. They couldn't have imagined the money involved, and maybe that would make them more forgiving. Or maybe not.

Casinos are a big money maker. For the Oklahoma state line casinos, most of that money is Texas money. Good to see some of that money come back to Texas.

Okie casinos are not my favorite thanks to the Okie legislators who have the incredibly stupid pay-to-play for table games and no comped drinks laws. But like I said at least we get a little bit of our money back this way.

What would those people have thought about beer sold in the stadium?

Besides paying some money and getting their advertising, I assume, what is WinStar's role?
You know, the normal casino/mobster stuff. Gambling, hard drugs, prostitution and maybe the occasional mob war. Unions, protection. An olive oil import business and waste management for legitimate cover. There will be a bouncer at the door.
Addison and Randolph are rolling around in their graves.
