Series Notes: Tennessee State
  • Not only is Wednesday’s ballgame the first-ever meeting between TCU and Tennessee State, it signifies just the second time the Horned Frogs have battled a team from the Ohio Valley Conference. TCU’s first-and-only encounter with an OVC foe took place 37 years ago, when the Frogs fell 89-56 to Murray State on Dec. 16, 1988 in a game that took place in Tulsa, Okla. as a part of the Midwest Roundball Tournament.
  • Additionally, the midweek matchup marks only the second time a TCU basketball team has faced Tennessee State. The TCU men downed the Tigers 60-40 on Dec. 29, 2014 in Fort Worth.
  • TCU last faced a team from the state of Tennessee on Nov. 7, 2022 in its 2022-23 season-opener vs. Lipscomb. The Frogs won the game 69-62.
  • TCU holds a 7-6 all-time record vs. teams from Tennessee. Eight of the Horned Frogs encounters with D1 institutions in the Volunteer State have come opposite Memphis or Tennessee. TCU is 4-0 vs. the Tigers and 0-4 vs. the Volunteers.
  • Among teams from Tennessee, TCU holds victories over Lipscomb, Memphis, Middle Tennessee and Vanderbilt.

  • Mark TCU’s 19th consecutive win in the month of November.

  • Boost TCU’s record at home when ranked to 52-8.
  • Stake TCU to its 20th straight home win as a ranked team.
  • Count as the Horned Frogs 454th all-time home win.

When I said I hoped playground time is over and the Frogs would work on ball control ahead of NC State...I could not have been more mistaken. Guess they'll work on that in practice. Ten first-half turnovers and 59 points, along with 12 steals--coach still letting the girls have fun.

The aggressive uptempo style lends itself to some of that. Definitely a couple of careless passes, fumbles inside. They have 19 turnovers and we 27 points from those. That is the real turnover stat.
