GoFrogs: Wallow Named to Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. -- TCU linebacker Garret Wallow has been selected to the watch list for the 2020 Lott IMPACT Trophy.

Named after Pro Football Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott, the Lott IMPACT Trophy recognizes the nation's top defensive player in terms of his impact on and off the field.

Wallow was first-team All-Big 12 and honorable-mention Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year last season. He was also an honorable-mention All-American by Phil Steele.

A senior from New Orleans, Wallow led TCU and the Big 12 with 125 tackles, including 18 for loss with 3.5 sacks. The 125 stops ranked fourth in a season under head coach Gary Patterson. Wallow tied for ninth nationally in both tackles (10.4) and TFLs (1.5) per game.

Wallow has played an active part with volunteerism in the Fort Worth community and in his hometown of New Orleans. He has fed the homeless in both cities while hosting programs for area youth, serving as a role model to them and supporting their academic and athletic endeavors. Additionally, he has helped coordinate blood drives and routinely speaks at local schools in Fort Worth about the value of education. He is very active in service projects with his Omega Psi Phi Fraternity at TCU and participated in a food and Christmas drive in New Orleans, where he fed homeless people under a bridge and helped secure donations of toys for families who were not able to afford them.

TCU two-time consensus first-team All-America defensive end Jerry Hughes of the Buffalo Bills was the 2009 Lott IMPACT Trophy recipient.
