FORT WORTH – Make it two national player of the year honors Hailey Van Lith is now in contention for.
Van Lith was tabbed to the John R. Wooden Award Preseason Watch List on Thursday.
The 5-9 guard was one of 50 players chosen following a preseason poll of national college basketball experts.
The accolade is presented annually to the country's top overall player. Van Lith is also among the early frontrunners to be named to the Wooden Award All-American Team with the selection.
Van Lith also took home Naismith Trophy preseason watch list honors in October. She has received national player of the year consideration all five years in her college career.
From Wenatchee, Washington, Van Lith was crowned Preseason Big 12 Co-Newcomer of the Year and named to the Preseason All-Big 12 team via a vote of the conference's head coaches.
She flirted with a quadruple-double in her TCU debut on Tuesday. She tallied 21 poiunts, seven assists, a career-high six steals and five rebounds in the Horned Frogs' 78-41 triumph over Houston Christian.
Van Lith leads all D1 players in career games played (135) and is sixth nationally and second among Big 12 players in career points scored (1,957).
TCU and Van Lith return to the court on Sunday when the Frogs host New Orleans at 2 p.m. in Schollmaier Arena.
