GoFrogs: Two School Records Fall at UW Invitational
SEATTLE – Racing at the UW Invitational, TCU track and field saw two program records fall on the weekend, with Tabitha Ngao taking down the 800m record and the men's Distance Medley Relay (DMR) squad setting a new best time.
Ngao continued her dominance in the 800m race. This season, she has won the event twice and broken the Texas A&M facility record. Now the school record holder, the sophomore edged out All-American Gracie Morris' mark that was set last season. The men's DMR squad of Drew Oliver, Jordan Parker, Giovouni Henry and Mohamed Kowa shattered the previous record by 10 seconds, throwing down a 9:40.89 to win the event with the second-fastest time in the NCAA this indoor season.
In the mile, Anastacia Gonzalez dropped five seconds off her season-best time. The junior turned in a 4:44.81, the fourth best mark in TCU history. On the men's side, Drew Oliver and Mohamed Kowa also ran personal best times that rank among the best in school history. Oliver improved his standing on the top performers list, moving into third with a 4:02.50 mile (third), and Kowa logged a 4:06.27 (fourth).
Lloyd Frilot posted a strong 1:47.47 in the 800m, shaving just over half a second off his career-best time. The senior is now less than half a second from breaking the school record. Frilot ranks 16th in the nation this season in the event.
The women's DMR finished first on Friday night with a time of 11:13.91, the second-best performance in school history and the 12th best in the country. Ngao, Gonzalez, Kelaiah Daniyan and Georgia Scott all combined in the effort.
Also competing this weekend in Normal at the JD Martin Invitational, the Frogs picked up four event wins. Gabby Martin won the 3000m, Alleah Krote finished first in the 60m hurdles, Clay Macdonald took the men's 800m title and Sasha Crawford won the women's 800m.
