DALLAS -- TCU offensive tackle Marcus Cannon and center Jake Kirkpatrick have been named to the watch list for the 2010 Outland Trophy, recognizing the nation's top interior lineman. TCU is one of just 13 schools to have more than one player on the Outland Trophy Watch List.

The Outland Trophy, presented annually since 1946, is the third-oldest award in major college football. The Outland Trophy is named after the late John Outland, an All-America lineman at Penn and Kansas at the turn of the century.

The 6-foot-5, 350-pound Cannon had a dominant 2009 campaign in being a first-team All-Mountain West Conference selection. The senior from Odessa, Texas, did not allow a sack. He's been ranked by ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. as the third-best offensive tackle available in the 2011 National Football League draft.

Cannon, who also appears on the 2010 Rotary Lombardi Award Watch List, has been named to three preseason All-America teams.

Cannon has previously been tabbed a Top 10 Workout Warrior by ESPN.com. He's started all but two games over the last two seasons.

Kirkpatrick also appears on watch lists for the Rotary Lombardi Award and Rimington Trophy. A first-team All-American last year, Kirkpatrick was one of six finalists for the 2009 Rimington Trophy and is the only one of those six finalists to return this season.

Kirkpatrick sets the Horned Frogs' blocking scheme on each play. The Tyler, Texas, native did not play football until his senior year of high school. The 6-foot-3, 305-pound senior was previously a basketball player. As a guard on the hardwood, Kirkpatrick could dunk a basketball.

Cannon and Kirkpatrick helped anchor an offensive line last year that paved the way for TCU to set single-season school records for points scored (498), total offense (5,937 yards) and first downs (311). He was also key in TCU ranking sixth nationally in fewest sacks allowed per game (0.9).

The Horned Frogs ranked fifth nationally in rushing offense (239.5 yards per game) and scoring (38.3 points per game) while placing seventh in total offense (456.7 yards per game) and eighth in passing efficiency (154.1).
