GoFrogs: Track Wraps Successful Weekend in Waco

WACO, Texas –
TCU track and field closed out competition at the Michael Johnson Invitational on Saturday afternoon, winning three events at the Clyde Hart Track & Field Stadium.

Stone Burke, Georgia Scott and Mohammed Kowa all earned event wins bringing the total to six on the weekend, while 17 Horned Frogs secured top 10 finishes overall in their respective events.

Burke won the men's 3000m steeplechase in 9:15.50 for the first event victory of the day. Later in the meet, TCU swept the men's and women's 800m events. Scott took home the women's title with a personal best time of 2:07.92, which ranks sixth in program history. Kowa grabbed his second win of the weekend. Last night, the junior crossed the finish line first in the 1500m, and today, he added the 800m to his win total.

Overall, three Frogs picked up top 10 finishes in the 400m. Tia Williams earned a third place finish with a personal best 53.13. Her teammate, Samarra Monrroy crossed seventh in 53.68. Lloyd Frilot ran a 47.33 (personal best) to place 10th for the men.

The Frogs' triple jumpers both made the finals on the men's and women's sides. Alleah Krote placed eighth with a leap of 12.45m. For the men, Damilare Olukosi took home silver with a personal best of 15.81m. His mark ranks 14th in the nation this season.

Senior Samantha Callaway also saw success in the field. In the shot put, she finished ninth with a 14.42m throw.

In the relays, the men finished second in the 4x100m with a season best time of 39.64, while the women placed fourth (43.95). To wrap up the meet, both the men's and women's 4x400m squads earned bronze finishes.

TCU is back in action April 24-26 at Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa.
