GoFrogs: Three Horned Frogs Earn All-America Honors

FORT WORTH
– Three Horned Frogs were named to the 2022 Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American Team, the ITA announced. Luc Fomba has earned All-America status in both singles and doubles for the second year in a row, while Juan Carlos Aguilar (singles) and Jake Fearnley (doubles) were recognized for the first time as Horned Frogs, becoming the 28th and 29th All-Americans in TCU Men's Tennis History.

Fomba was named singles and doubles All-American for the second consecutive season, becoming just the third Horned Frog in program history to do so, joining Paul Robinson (1995-96) and David Pate (1981-83). He is now a four-time All-American for the Frogs, tying Luis Ruette (1990-92) for the third-most all-time, behind Pate (six) and Robinson (six). Fomba is now the most decorated Horned Frog in the David Roditi era, surpassing Cameron Norrie (3x All-American) and Alex Rybakov (3x All-American).

Fomba finished the season with a 36-12 overall record and a 19-8 record against ranked opponents. He was named All-Big 12 first team in both disciplines, anchoring the No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles positions for the Horned Frogs for a large majority of the season.

Fearnley earned his first-career All-America nod playing on the No. 1 doubles pairing with Fomba. The duo went 19-6 at the top spot with a remarkable 9-2 record against ranked opponents. Together, they were named the No. 1 doubles pair in the nation before ending the year No. 2 in the final rankings, tied with Roditi and Robinson (1995) for the greatest year-end ranking by any Horned Frog, singles or doubles, in program history.

Aguilar earned his fourth All-America selection this season and his first-ever in singles. After receiving three selections in doubles during his first four seasons at Texas A&M, Aguilar earned his singles award by earning a Top 16 seed in the NCAA Singles Tournament, posting a 15-8 dual singles record, playing mostly at No. 2 singles. He ended the year ranked No. 17 and reached a career-best ranking of No. 10 earlier this season.

TCU finished with five singles athletes and three doubles pairs ranked in the final ITA Rankings of 2022, setting program records for the most ranked players at the end of a season (six), the most ranked singles players (five) and the most ranked doubles pairs (three).
