FORT WORTH - No. 10 TCU scored nine runs in the first four innings to help secure the series victory with a 9-1 win over Oklahoma Sunday afternoon. The Horned Frogs were led by a career-day on the mound from Tyler Alexander.

Alexander (7-3) tossed a career-high eight innings. He allowed a solo home run to Sheldon Neuse in the fourth, but that was all as the Sooners managed just five hits in the game. The freshman tallied three strikeouts in the game. Alex Young closed out the game with a scoreless ninth.

Six straight batters reached to open TCU's half of the second inning as the Frogs stormed out to a 4-0 lead. Kevin Cron started the frame with a base hit up the middle. Back-to-back singles from Garrett Crain and Jerrick Suiter loaded the bases. Dylan Fitzgerald worked a bases-loaded walk to put the Frogs in front. Keaton Jones and Kyle Back followed with RBI singles to drive in two more runs. Fitzgerald crossed with the fourth run of the game on a double play ball.

The Sooners picked up their first hit of the day in the top of the third, but Alexander induced the first of three double plays turned by the Horned Frogs to erase the base runner. Derek Odell made a diving stop on a ball down the line to end the inning.

Oklahoma's lone run came in the fourth on a two-out home run from Neuse. From that point, Alexander retired eight straight and 10 of the next 11 batters he faced to get the game to the eighth inning.

TCU broke the conteset open with a five-run fourth inning as it took advantage of a trio of Sooner errors. Keaton Jones opened the inning with a hustle double to left. Kyle Bacak reached on a dropped ball at third to put two on. After a hit batter loaded the bases, Odell stepped to the plate. His fly ball into shallow right field was misplayed by the outfielder, but the Sooners still had a chance at an out on the bases. The throw to second base was mishandled and all runners were safe. Boomer White made the error hurt as he cleared the bases with a double and eventually scored on a Cron sacrifice fly to make it 9-1.

Alexander surrendered a pair of base hits around a strikeout in the eighth inning, but again was able to work out of the jam with a groundball as Crain started an inning-ending 4-6-3 double play. He then gave way to Young in the ninth, who, after giving up a lead-off single, got a game-ending double play to lock up the victory.

TCU improves to 36-14 overall and 15-6 in Big 12 play. The Frogs will close out their regular season home schedule Tuesday night against UT Arlington. First pitch is set for 6:30.
