GoFrogs: TCU Takes Series Opener With 5-1 Win Over Baylor
FORT WORTH – TCU rode a quality start from Louis Rodriguez to a 5-1 series-opening win against Baylor Friday afternoon at Lupton Stadium. Brayden Taylor homered and drove in two to lead the Horned Frogs to their third straight win.

The Rundown
The pitching quartet of Louis Rodriguez, Ben Abeldt, Cohen Feser and Garrett Wright was outstanding in limiting Baylor to a run on four hits in the game.

Rodriguez (2-1) retired the first 11 batters he faced. In the fifth, his fifth strikeout of the game helped him pitch around a pair of walks in the frame. An inning-ending double play in the sixth got the freshman out a first-and-third jam. He finished the afternoon with a career-high 6 1/3 innings pitched, allowing a run on three hits. He walked two and struck out five.

The Frogs gave Rodriguez all the run support he would need in the first four innings. Elijah Nunez and Tre Richardson opened the first with back-to-back singles. Brayden Taylor's sacrifice fly gave the Frogs the 1-0 lead.

Logan Maxwell's two-out double kick-started a two run second. Maxwell drove in Karson Bowen and scored on a Richardson double for a 3-0 lead.

Cole Fontenelle worked a lead-off walk in the third. A stolen base and a balk had him on third and he scored easily on a Kurtis Byrne ground out for a 4-0 advantage.

Taylor's one out, solo home run accounted for TCU's final run of the game. Baylor's lone run came on a sacrifice fly in the seventh.
