GoFrogs: TCU Rallies Past Texas Tech
FORT WORTH, Texas – After trailing by as many as 10 points in the second half, the TCU women's basketball team used a 14-0 run over a span of four minutes late in the fourth quarter to topple Texas Tech, 78-70, Wednesday night at Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena.

Kianna Ray finished with a career night in both points (24) and steals (5), while Amy Okonkwo became the 19th member of TCU's 1,000 career points club in the win.

Freshman Alexandria Crain also contributed a career-high 11 points on a perfect 4-of-4 shooting, including three from beyond-the-arc.

The Rundown
TCU (12-4, 2-3 Big 12) found itself facing a 33-28 halftime deficit and trailed by as many as 10 points early in the third quarter. A 9-0 run trimmed the deficit to one with just over five minutes left in the quarter, but the Lady Raiders (10-6, 1-4) responded with an 8-0 run of their own just moments later to push their lead back to seven heading into the fourth quarter.

The Horned Frogs made another push in the fourth going on a 9-2 run to trim the Lady Raider lead back to two. TCU kept the pressure on Texas Tech and eventually took the lead with 4:07 left in the game on a lay-up by Adeola Akomolafe as part of a 14-0 run for the Frogs.

TCU finished with 25 assists, its second-highest total of the season, while turning the ball over just 12 times. The Horned Frog defense, meanwhile, forced the Lady Raiders into 20 turnovers in the contest.

Stat of the Day
1,000 –
TCU senior Amy Okonkwo became the 19th player in TCU history to eclipse the 1,000-point threshold in a Horned Frog uniform. She joins teammate Jordan Moore who accomplished the feat earlier this season. The duo becomes the ninth pair of teammates in program history to be a part of the 1,000-point club in the same season.

Quote of the Day
TCU Head Coach Raegan Pebley

"That fourth quarter was really big for us. Scoring 31 points, rebounding well, our rebounding in the second half was a big key for us to get the win. Alexandria Crain hit some big 3-pointers for us, Ryann (Payne) in the third finding some juice on the penetration. I loved that Amy (Okonkwo) and Kianna (Ray) stayed confident in their scoring, Kianna started the game 0-5 but she kept shooting and kept finding the confidence to take the shot when it's the right shot."

"It is awesome for Amy that she got to 1,000 points, Amy gets a lot of credit and attention, deservingly, for the things that she does off the floor. She is a woman beyond her years, but she is a heck of a basketball player. I don't want that to get lost in all of the amazing other stuff that she does. That 1,000 points is earned with a lot of hard work. She is one of the players on our team that gets the most shots up on her own. It's great to see her get that milestone."

Up Next
TCU takes to the road this weekend as it travels to Austin to take on No. 11 Texas at 1 p.m. on Saturday. The game will be televised on Longhorn Network.
