GoFrogs: TCU Qualifies for NCAA Championship

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --
It came down to the final two Horned Frogs on the last hole in final round play Wednesday at the NCAA Regional in Albuquerque, N.M., and Caitlyn Macnab's birdie and Sabrina Iqbal's par earned the TCU women's golf team a spot in the NCAA Championship.

TCU entered the final round of the NCAA Regional holding a one-stroke lead over Florida for the coveted fourth and final spot to advance to the NCAA Championship. Both teams shot a 3-over 291 with the Horned Frogs maintaining their one-shot advantage over the 11th-ranked Gators.

TCU will be making its eighth NCAA Championship appearance under Head Coach Angie Ravaioli-Larkin and first since 2010. The NCAA Championship begins May 20 in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Iqbal's par to clinch the NCAA Championship spot capped another stellar tournament for the TCU graduate, who earned her degree in entrepreneurship and innovation earlier this week. She tied for fourth with a 3-under 213 for her 10th career top-five finish. She also continued to leave her mark on the TCU record books.

Iqbal and Valeria Pacheco both carded eagles, their sixth of the year to tie Macnab for the TCU season record. It was also Iqbal's 10th career eagle, equaling Greta Bruner's TCU mark (2018-21). It came on the par 5, 495-yard 14th hole. Iqbal now holds or shares seven TCU records.

Macnab saved her fourth birdie of the day for the most opportune time, on the final hole. She tied for eighth with a 1-over 217. It was the sixth top-10 finish in 11 tournaments this season for the freshman from Johannesburg, South Africa.

After recording par on her opening eight holes, Pacheco posted her eagle on the par 5, 523-yard ninth hole. It put the senior 2 under for the front nine. She finished with an even-par 72, her best round after posting a pair of 76s the opening two days.

The Horned Frogs' 20 eagles this season more than double their previous program record of nine in 2019-20.

Trinity King had three birdies en route to a 1-over 73 and her best round of the regional. She was even on the back nine.

Both of Lois Lau's birdies came in a five-hole stretch to close the front nine and begin the back nine. She finished with a 75.
