GoFrogs: TCU men's basketball opens season against CS-Bakersfield

CSU-Bakersfield totally blew the last minute. Wide open tip-in and instead they swat it out to half-court. Miss the chance to foul our worst FT shooters, then foul with 11 left on the shot clock. Horrendous.

At least it's a W.

Just an awful decision to bat that ball to mid court. They really didn’t need a three that badly right then.

All kinds of talent but have to shoot the ball better. Getting Fisher and Noi back on the floor will help that and Bane will find his stroke at some point.

17-27 FT @ 63%, 3/16 3’s @ 18% not good at all.

Robinson was efficient with 12 points and 9 assists. But 40% from the stripe is really concerning, especially given his “focus” in the off season. He’s got to figure that out. A guy handling the ball the majority of the time down the stretch shooting 40% from free throw line will find himself watching the end of the game on the bench.

Nembhard had a rough outing. 1-4 FT, 1-5 3’s, 2 assists with 3 turnovers. Game 1, he’ll settle in for us.

Rough outing altogether imo. But they picked up the intensity and did enough to get it done though. Didn’t see a top 25 team out there tonight.

6 turnovers between Alok and Samuels. Half of TCU’s turnovers came from the bigs. They have to clean that up. Alok has a nice touch close to the basket and shot 75% from the line.

TCU 1-0. Undefeated. T-1 Big12!!!

Just home from the game. CSU was a well coached team with some talent. They played extremely hard and looked like a good half court team in mid season form. We looked like a talented team playing its first game of the year. Nembhard is a great player, just needs to find his confidence and he will.

CSU was scrappy as hell and had a really hot hand early. We couldn't make ship but played much better in the 2nd half. I saw some post-game quotes from Dixon on Twitter basically saying we're very inexperienced (3 players tonight that has seen college playing time), but got better as the game went on. He was proud of the Senior leadership with Bane getting 10 boards and taking care of the ball. He thinks we're going to keep getting better and be "very good," and I feel like you can see the potential out there. This will be a fun team, but we'll likely have some early growing pains like tonight.
