GoFrogs: TCU Duo on Walter Camp Player of the Year List

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Walter Camp Football Foundation has named TCU running back Darius Anderson and defensive end Ben Banogu to the watch list for its 2018 Player of the Year Award.

TCU is one of just nine schools in the country to have more than one player on the list. The Walter Camp Player of the Year Award is the nation's fourth-oldest individual college football accolade.

Anderson, who has also been named to watch lists for the Maxwell Award and Doak Walker Award, is TCU's career leader in yards per carry at 6.4. He was on pace for a 1,000-yard season last year before being sidelined by injury. He finished with a team-best 768 yards rushing and eight touchdowns in earning honorable-mention All-Big 12 honors.

A junior from Rosenberg, Texas, Anderson was the Walter Camp National Offensive Player of the Week after rushing for 160 yards and three touchdowns, as well as totaling a career-high four receptions, in a 44-31 win at No. 6 Oklahoma State. He also ran for 106 and 99 yards in victories over Arkansas and Texas, respectively.

Banogu, the 2018 Big 12 Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, was first-team All-Big 12 and the Big 12 Defensive Newcomer of the Year last season. His 8 1/2 sacks ranked second in the Big 12, behind only teammate and current Buffalo Bill Mat Boesen (11 1/2). Banogu's 16 1/2 tackles for loss led TCU and were third in the Big 12. The senior from McKinney, Texas, had at least one TFL in 13 of 14 games. He also forced three fumbles on the season, including on sacks in consecutive road wins at Arkansas and Oklahoma State.

Banogu also appears on watch lists for the Chuck Bednarik Award, Bronko Nagurski Trophy and Wuerffel Trophy as well as being a nominee for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team.
