FORT WORTH – A two-run eighth for Cincinnati proved to be the difference as the Bearcats avoided the sweep with a 9-8 win over TCU Sunday afternoon at Lupton Stadium. The see saw battle saw three ties and four lead changes. Isaac Cadena hit the Horned Frogs' lone home run in the game.

The Rundown
The game was a battle from start to finish, but a two-out base hit in the eighth gave Cincinnati a 9-7 lead and proved to be the game-winner.

TCU had its chance in the bottom of the eighth. Sawyer Strosnider led off the inning with a double. With runner on the corners, Noah Franco singled to make it 9-8 with nobody out. The Bearcats turned a pivotal double play and got a strikeout with the go-ahead run standing on second and held on in the ninth for the win.

TCU opened the scoring in the first on an RBI-ground out from Cole Cramer. The Bearcats tied the game on a lead-off homer in the fourth.

From there, the runs flowed for both sides. TCU struck for three in the fourth to take a 4-1 lead. The Frogs loaded the bases with nobody out. Karson Bowensingled to give the Frogs the lead and two straight ground outs drove in the final two runs in the frame. Cincinnati tied the game with three in the fifth.

TCU, again, took the lead in the bottom of the fifth on an Anthony Silva sacrifice fly, but the Bearcats had an answer with two home runs that led to three runs in the sixth for a 7-5 lead.

The Frogs battled back to tie the game at seven with single runs in the six and the seventh. Karson Bowen doubled to open the seventh and scored on a Strosnider base hit. Isaac Cadena's solo home run in the seventh tied the game at seven, setting up the decisive eighth inning.

Mason Brassfield started and allowed four runs on four hits in 4 1/3 innings. He walked three and struck out five. Kade Eudy (1-1) took the loss after allowing two runs on a hit and walked one in 1 1/3 innings.

TCU stranded 12 men on base in the loss. The Horned Frogs had base runners in every inning in the game but were only 4-of-18 with runners in scoring position.

Isaac Cadena hit his seventh home run of the season and the 10th of his career.
• Cadena tallied his 10th multi-hit game of the year and the 12th of his career.

Next Up:
With the loss, TCU falls to 35-16 overall and 17-10 in league play. TCU will hit the road for the final regular season series at Utah. The series gets underway Thursday night at 7 p.m. (CT). The entire series will be televised on ESPN+.
