ABOUT THE GAME
- TCU continues its stretch of five out of seven games on the road when it travels to Lubbock to face Texas Tech on Saturday at 11 a.m.
- TCU head coach Gary Patterson and Texas Tech head coach Matt Wells first crossed paths in Logan, Utah. Patterson was the secondary coach at Utah State from 1992-94. It overlapped with Wells' first two seasons as the Aggies' quarterback (1993-96).
- Wells represents the third Texas Tech head coach Gary Patterson has faced since TCU began Big 12 play in 2012 (Tommy Tuberville, 2012; Kliff Kingsbury, 2013-18; Matt Wells, 2019).
- Four of the Horned Frogs' five losses this season have been by seven points or less.
- TCU's 40 road wins since 2009 are tied for third nationally. The Frogs are 40-18 (.690) in that stretch.
- TCU is No. 1 in the Big 12 in total defense (320.7 yards per game) while ranking in a tie for second in the nation with five true freshmen who have started on that side of the ball.

SADDLE TROPHY
- A longtime tradition was renewed in 2017 when TCU and Texas Tech battled for the Saddle Trophy. The teams used to compete annually in the West Texas Championship for the Saddle Trophy, before it went away in the early 1970s.
- Thanks to M.L. Leddy's Boots & Saddlery of Fort Worth, the Saddle Trophy returned and headed to Fort Worth after TCU's 27-3 victory in Lubbock. The Saddle Trophy sits on a stand and includes the logos for TCU and Texas Tech. Scores for 60-plus years of the rivalry are represented on the stand.

SERIES HISTORY
- Since the Horned Frogs began Big 12 play in 2012, the road team has won five of the seven meetings between TCU and Texas Tech.
- TCU's last two trips to Jones AT&T Stadium (2015, 55-52; 2017, 27-3) mark the only time in program history it won consecutive games in Lubbock.
- Texas Tech holds a 32-26-3 edge over TCU in the all-time series that began with a 28-16 Horned Frogs' win in Fort Worth in 1926.
- TCU is 7-18-3 versus the Red Raiders in Lubbock and 19-14 in Fort Worth.

FAMILIAR FACES
- Three members of TCU's staff have spent time at Texas Tech.
- TCU co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Sonny Cumbie came to the Horned Frogs after four seasons as an assistant coach at Texas Tech (2010-13).
- Cumbie was the Red Raiders' starting quarterback as a senior in 2004. One of his top receiving targets was current Tech wide receivers coach Joel Filani.
- TCU defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Chad Glasgow was Texas Tech's defensive coordinator in 2011.
- TCU offensive line coach Chris Thomsen served in the same capacity at Texas Tech in 2012. He was the interim head coach in the Red Raiders' 34-31 win over Minnesota in the 2012 Meineke Car Care Bowl
- Texas Tech associate head coach/special teams/offensive line coach Mark Tommerdahl was TCU's tight ends and special teams coach from 1998-00, Gary Patterson's three seasons as the Horned Frogs' defensive coordinator.

DID YOU KNOW?
- TCU co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Sonny Cumbie has been on both sides of scoring history in the TCU-Texas Tech series.
- He helped lead the Horned Frogs to single-game TCU and Big 12 scoring records with an 82-27 victory over the Red Raiders in 2014.
- The most points ever allowed by TCU under Gary Patterson was in 2004, when Cumbie was the starting quarterback for Texas Tech in its 70-35 win.

TCU NOTABLES
- Over the last six seasons, TCU (51-24, 32-19) has the Big 12's second-best overall and conference records.
- TCU is one of just six programs nationally to finish in the top 10 of the final polls at least three times (2014, 2015, 2017) in the last five seasons. The others are Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State and Oklahoma.
- TCU has five 11-win seasons this decade, equaling the combined number of the 11 other FBS programs in the state.
- Patterson, at 19 seasons, is the nation's second-longest tenured head coach, trailing only Iowa's Kirk Ferentz (21st year).
- Under Patterson, TCU has posted seven top-10 finishes and 11 in the top 25. The Horned Frogs have won at least 10 games in 11 of the last 17 seasons.
- Patterson has accounted for 26.1 percent (171 of 655) of TCU's all-time football victories.
