That ball got to the wall fast, and the left fielder didn't have to run all the way to the corner. Without knowing where Eaton was when the fielder grabbed the ball, I'm going to give our coach the benefit of the doubt.
Tough decision. It was as you said, and the LF got to it quick, Still, it takes two perfect throws. In that situation he should have sent him. It was the PR ... that is why is in there for that situation.

Well, it looked like the LF was playing deep (no doubles.) That's why he got to the ball so quickly. I'm guessing Eaton was only halfway to third (at best) when the LF grabbed the ball and turned to throw to the cutoff. Hard to score from first on that.

Do we have the money to get KU’s coach? Or any coach capable of getting the most+ out of the talent he has?

Loos getting canned has to be a foregone conclusion at this point…right???

Yeah, because we were hitting so well with runners in scoring position up to this point

Imagine this board if Eaton was thrown out by 10 feet.

Then it would be all credit to OSU for making to excellent relay throws.

When your team is struggling sometimes you need to take a chance.

If only Strosnider had caught that fly ball that turned into a ground-rule double.

He said "this board". Let's be honest about it, this group wouldn't have given credit to the opponent in that situation.

It's a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation.

But I agree that he should have been sent if it would have been close (I didn't see this one live).

Well an Internet forum prob isn’t the best place to get feedback on job performance in any situation. Over the years I assume my parents have all complained about a lot of my calls to send guys or to hold them up. It’s easy to second guess for sure. You live w the decision as the one in the coaches box. And hopefully have enough time to improve your positioning, eye placement and ultimate decision making.

All that said, this team needs a spark somewhere and I think needs more overall aggression. Don’t know if there’s time left to make that change successfully.

According to DIBaseball, TCU has moved from solidly in the field to the last four in.

I think honestly we only stayed in the last 4 in due to Pittsburgh getting swept by Florida St this weekend and Purdue being swept last weekend by USC.

The best thing in our favor is we play a Utah team that we should win 2 of 3 and potentially sweep this weekend and then have a solid WVU team remaining to prove ourselves - while Pittsburgh has UNC on their schedule which could sweep them again while Purdue plays no one significant to help with their RPI the rest of the season.

But if we lose to WVU badly and Pitt somehow shows up for UNC and even takes at game in Chapel Hill - I would guess we flip flop places before the end of the season.

And ULL is a wildcard - if they keep playing the way they have of late, they will steal someone's spot either before their conference tourney or by getting the autobid through winning it

At some point the players have to be held accountable. Some are making good money. Some are bitching about money they aren't making but aren't earning it either. You have parents talking about Omaha in September and making travel plans for June in February. Kirk definitely deserves some blame but maybe we just have a few entitled primadonas poisoning the team.

Easy solution. Fire the entire coaching staff and let the entitled players transfer out. Reset program under new coach. Come back hungrier and stronger next season.

well I agree for sure we have 5 guys that were in pre-season discussions for potential All American spots and 4 guys on our roster constantly touted as early round draft picks when their time comes.....but unlike with Branden Taylor, who played like an All American and top draft pick but acted like he never knew he would be considered for either, we seem to have some guys this year acting like they are All Americans already but not playing like it.

There is not clear leaders on this team I can tell and if definitely doesn't seem to be any of the big names getting paid if there is one.

While that is a player issue - it is also a team atmosphere problem created by a hug and kisses approach from our staff.
