GoFrogs: Staley Shatters Pole Vault Record on Day Two

LUBBOCK, Texas –
Kasey Staley broke her own school record in the pole vault and garnered a bronze medal on Day Two of the Big 12 Championships.

Staley recorded a new personal best with a height of 4.30m (14-1.25). She held the previous school record of 4.20m that she set at the Longhorn Invitational on March 5.

She became the second Horned Frog this weekend to garner a bronze medal. On Day One, Sydney Juszczyk notched a third-place finish in the javelin. The freshman broke her own school record and recorded a personal-best throw of 48.75m (159-11).

Gracie Morris advanced to tomorrow's 1500m finals as she automatically qualified by finishing second overall in the prelims. She finished with a time of 4:19.42.

Also qualifying for tomorrow's finals was Tinotenda Matiyenga and Robert Gregory Jr. The duo placed fifth and seventh, respectively, in the 200m prelims with times of 20.59 (1.3w) and 20.62 (0.9w). At this year's NCAA Indoor Championships, Gregory was the national runner-up in the 200m and Matiyenga finished third.

Khyasia Caldwell placed fourth overall in the women's long jump with a new personal-best mark of 6.46m (0.6w). During her second jump, she set a new personal-best at 6.43m (1.2w). Her best jump came on her fifth attempt. That jump puts her at fifth in TCU history.

In the men's long jump, Patrick Sylla placed eighth overall with a leap of 7.54m (1.5w), a new personal-best mark for him.
