TCU Closes Regular Season With Draw At Kansas
Oliver tallies third goal of the season.
Final Stats

FORT WORTH – McKenzie Oliver scored the equalizer in the 57th minute and Courtney Hofer made five saves to help TCU play to a 1-1 draw at Kansas Friday night in the regular season finale.

The Rundown
Despite rain showers through the entirety of the match, TCU and Kansas treated fans to an entertaining match. Once again, the Horned Frogs rallied from a deficit to pull out a result.

TCU had the early advantage in the first half, but a late push from Kansas turned into a 1-0 halftime lead. Liana Salazar took the Ashley Williams crossing feed and headed it past a diving Hofer for the lead in the 31st minute.

The Frogs came out firing in the second half, outshooting the Jayhawks 11-3 in the frame. The hard work paid dividends in the 57th minute as Michelle Prokof hit a streaking Oliver in stride. Oliver chipped in her third goal of the season over the keeper’s head to tie the game at one.

Each overtime featured a wealth of chances for both teams. Hofer made a diving stop in the first overtime and watched as seven other Kansas shots missed the net. Prokof had the best look for the Frogs, but her bad angle shot went just wide of the far post in the first overtime.

Stat of the Game
21 –
Season point total for Michelle Prokof, tying her for the ninth-best single-season point total with Jackie Torda (2007).

Quotes of the Game
Head Coach Eric Bell

“Tonight were really tough conditions for both teams. I liked that we were able to fight back from a goal down. It was a hard game, but we showed a lot of character. We feel good about where we are. We are reasonably healthy and defensively we are in good spot. The soccer we are playing is pretty good too.”

“We are close to getting to where we want to be. As I’ve said before, it’s hard to win in league. We are learning to put 90 minutes together or in tonight’s case 110 minutes. We are a younger group, but we are figuring it out. The kids are excited to play in the tourney and hopefully make a run.”

“Courtney is playing better than she was earlier in the year. She has more confidence. She made some big saves today to keep us in the match. Hat’s off to her and her ability to show resiliency and character.”

“We haven’t been giving up a lot of opportunities, which is a testament to the back four and the goalkeeper, but it takes everybody. The back four get the credit, but the attacking players get some credit too. Today was a great example of that.”
