FROG FOCUS
TCU started the season with a 6-1 victory over UTRGV on Wednesday night. The Horned Frogs didn't drop a set across two doubles and five singles matches (12-0) outscoring the Vaqueros 12 games to two in doubles action and 37-15 in singles play.

Luc Fomba had a strong debut as reigning Big 12 Player of the Year and All-American in both singles and doubles. He won his No. 1 doubles match 6-0 with Jake Fearnley as his partner, before winning the No. 1 singles match (6-2, 6-0) marking the first time in his career he has earned 6-0 set victories in both disciplines in the same match.

Fearnley made a strong impression in the first match of his third season in Fort Worth, winning No. 1 doubles with Fomba before winning his No. 5 singles match (6-0, 6-1). It was the most dominant dual of his career, winning 18 games while only dropping one, after missing most of the fall season due to injury.

TCU will be taking on the No. 1 ranked team in the country for the third season in a row. The Frogs defeated No. 1 USC, 4-3, last season at the ITA Indoor National Championship. Fomba and Tomas Jirousek each recorded singles victories in that match, with Sander Jong winning a doubles match as well. That victory was the first time TCU had beaten a No. 1 ranked team in the David Roditi era.

SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
The Florida Gators will open their dual season against TCU on Friday. It will be UF's first dual match since defeating Baylor in the national championship last year. The Gators return seven players from last year's team including the 2021 singles national champion, Sam Riffice.

TCU will be hoping for a revenge win over Florida after the Gators defeated TCU 7-0 in Gainesville, Fla. last season. Florida leads the all-time series, 4-3. This will be the second time UF will battle TCU in Fort Worth, the last meeting on the purple courts ended in a 4-3 Florida victory on Feb. 10, 2019.

Fomba and Juan Carlos Aguilar are the only Frogs to have beaten Florida in a singles match throughout their careers. Fomba is 1-1 in his career vs. UF in singles while Aguilar enters the match with a 3-3 lifetime singles record vs. the Gators. In doubles play, Fearnley recorded a win over Florida last season while Aguilar posted a 6-1 doubles record vs. UF while playing at Texas A&M prior to joining TCU this season.
