TCU Picks up 20th Win of the Season at Houston

HOUSTON – No. 20 TCU volleyball capped off the regular season with a 3-1 road victory at Houston on Saturday afternoon.

It marked the Horned Frogs' 20th win of the year, securing the first back-to-back 20-win seasons since 2008-09. In TCU's 30 seasons of volleyball, the Frogs have only won 20 matches eight times.

Leading the way with her 10th 20-plus kill match this season was Eva Hendrix. The sophomore racked up 22 kills to go along with 14 digs, putting her two shy of 500 this season. Becca Kelley followed with 10 kills on 25 swings, and freshman Mckenzie Berg contributed a career-best five kills on a .333 clip.

Defensively, Alice Volpe tied her career-high with 23 digs in the win, and Sarah Sylvesterfinished with six blocks.

Tied at nine in the first set, Houston found separation with a 6-2 run to hold a four-point advantage at the media break. The Cougars stretched the lead to eight at 21-13, forcing the Frogs to call a timeout. TCU rattled off a few points late, but it wasn't enough to dig the Frogs out of the hole.

Looking to respond in the second, TCU got a spark off the bench from Berg. She helped ignite a 4-0 run after subbing into the match to give the Frogs a five-point lead and later slammed down a kill as TCU closed out the set with another 4-0 run to tie the match at 1-1.

Evenly matched, both teams were knotted up at 17-17 in the third set until Sylvester got the offense rolling. The Frogs found breathing room, taking a 21-18 lead, and hung on thanks to kills from Kelley and Hendrix to close out the set 25-23.

With the end in sight, TCU locked in for set four. A Lauren Murphy and Sylvester block started a stretch of three straight points for the Frogs leading into the media break. TCU continued to stretch the lead to seven at 21-14, and Hendrix capped off the match with her 22nd kill of the afternoon to secure TCU's 20th win of the season.

The Frogs will now wait to hear their names called for the fourth straight season on Sunday, Nov. 30, when the field of 64 is announced for the 2025 NCAA Volleyball Tournament on ESPN at 5 p.m. CT.
