FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 10 TCU Horned Frogs put forth a dominating effort in front of a record-breaking crowd of 4,375, handing Texas A&M a 6-1 defeat Tuesday night.

The Frogs were led on the mound by Tyler Lockwood and at the plate by a three-RBI performance from Jason Coats. The victory is the fourth straight for the Horned Frogs. The duo of Paul Gerrish and Lockwood were lights out as they held the Aggies to a run on eight hits. Gerrish allowed a run on five hits in 4 1/3 innings of work with two strikeouts. Lockwood (4-2) pitched the final 4 2/3 innings, limiting Texas A&M to just three hits. He walked one and struck out one.

At the plate, Coats drove in three runs on two hits. Bryan Holaday finished the game with two hits and two runs scored. Matt Curry singled, scored and drove in a run for the Frogs.

Outstanding defensive plays helped guide the Frogs to victory as they turned three inning-ending double plays in the game.

TCU grabbed early momentum as it struck for a pair of two-out runs. Jason Coats raced to second on a Nick Fleece (1-1) wild pitch and scored on a double to left center off the bat of Curry. An errant throw by the shortstop that would have ended the inning allowed Curry to score, giving TCU the 2-0 lead.

The Aggies threatened to tie the game in the third inning as a lead-off single made it to third with two outs. Brance Rivera made a running snag on a line-drive to right field off the bat of Brodie Greene to end the inning.

Another error by the Aggies proved costly as it gave TCU the 3-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth. Taylor Featherston reached on an infield single with two outs. Rivera lined a singled up the middle to move Featherston to third. Aggie catcher Kevin Gonzalez attempted to back-pick Featherston at third, but sailed the ball into left field, allowing Featherston to race home with the third run of the game.

Texas A&M's bats came alive in the fifth as a solo home run to lead off the inning by Joaquin Hinojosa sparked the bats. Caleb Shofner doubled and moved to third on a base hit by Gonzalez with only one out, ending Gerrish's evening. Lockwood needed just one pitch to get out of the jam, getting Scott Arthur to ground into the inning-ending double play.

With two on and one out in the bottom of the fifth, Coats doubled to left field to clear the bases for a 5-1 TCU lead.

The Frogs tacked on another run in the seventh inning to give themselves a five-run cushion. Holaday doubled with two outs and scored on Coats' second hit of the night.

The Aggies tried to mount a ninth-inning rally as the first two batters reached on a hit and an error. Featherston bounced back from his error to get the first out of the inning, then made a nifty diving stop on a ball up the middle and turned it into a twin-killing to end the game and send the Frogs to victory.

TCU improves to 23-7 on the season. The Frogs will return to conference action as they hit the road for a three-game series at BYU beginning Thursday night in Provo, Utah. The Frogs took a 2-1 series victory over the Cougars back in March.

Game Notes:
• The victory over Texas A&M is the first since May 12, 1995.
• The crowd of 4,375 sets a new school record, breaking the old mark of 4,294 set on April 29, 2008 against the Aggies.
Taylor Featherston extended his hit streak to nine games.
Jim Schlossnagle tallied his 275th career victory at TCU.
Jason Coats has seven RBIs in his last two games and a seven game hit streak.

Awesome effort by Gerrish and Lockwood. Too bad Gerrish could't get two more outs and the win, but Lockwood earned it with his outing.

Coats is en fuego at the plate.

And whoever was doing I think the color for the Web video said a key for TCU would be turning double plays. Man was that ever right.

Great win Frogs! Sweep the Coogs.

Nice. Frogs are now 5 and 1 in Big 12 Conference play. Sweep Baylor and punch out OU in Norman and let's get fitted for rings to go with our MWC bling!
