FORT WORTH – The final push for a national title has begun for TCU men's tennis.

The No. 2 seed Horned Frogs battle No. 7 seed Virginia in the quarterfinals of the NCAA D1 Men's Tennis Championship at 4 p.m. on Friday at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas.

TCU, the reigning NCAA Champions, is making its sixth consecutive appearance in the Elite Eight and eighth in the last 10 seasons. No program in the country has notched more NCAA quarterfinal berths than TCU in the last decade.

The Horned Frogs are also the only team that has reached the final site of the NCAA Tournament for 10 straight seasons dating back to 2015. Only their soon-to-be foe, the Cavaliers, come close to matching TCU with nine final site appearances to their name in that span.

Friday's dual is a clash between the nation's two most consistent programs. TCU (25-3) and Virginia (23-7) are the sole programs nationwide that have reached the NCAA quarterfinals in each of the past four seasons. The three most recent NCAA Championship trophies either reside in Fort Worth or Charlottesville. Virginia claimed the crown in consecutive seasons in 2022 and 2023.

TCU twice faced Virginia in back-to-back matches during the 2022 indoor season in the programs' most recent meetings. The Frogs pitched a 4-1 defeat of the Cavaliers on Feb. 13, 2022, on the purple courts. TCU then downed Virginia 4-2 in the opening round of the ITA Indoor National Championships five days later in Seattle. The triumph set the stage for TCU's first of three national titles.

The Horned Frogs draw either No. 3 Texas or UCLA in the semifinals at 7 p.m. on Saturday with a victory vs. Virginia. On the corresponding half of the eight-team bracket are No. 1 Wake Forest, No. 4 Stanford, No. 8 Columbia and No. 12 Mississippi State.

The championship match is set for a 7 p.m. first serve on Sunday.

Chan winning the last match, a 6-4 third set after being down a break early in the set and having lost Set 2, 1-6. It was not looking good, but Chan the hero, flipping that third set with everyone watching. The Frogs had to first win the doubles point, decided by a 7-4 tiebreaker.
