Mitchell Named MW Pitcher of the Week
Honor is the second of the season for Mitchell
FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU sophomore pitcher Andrew Mitchell has been named the MW Pitcher of the Week for his performance against Air Force on Friday night. The honor is the second of the season for Mitchell and the fourth for the baseball team.
Mitchell, a sophomore from Houston, Texas, earned a 5-0 win on April 13 in the Horned Frogs' series opener against Air Force. Mitchell threw seven innings, striking out a career-high 13 batters. He allowed just three hits and a walk in the shutout.
Over the last three starts, Mitchell has pitched 19 scoreless innings and has fanned 27. He has back-to-back double-digit strikeouts contests.
Mitchell was named MW Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 27 for his performance against Cal State Fullerton. Preston Morrison (Feb. 20) and Stefan Crichton (March 5) have also been honored this season.
