GoFrogs: Miles Named USBWA All-District

– TCU guard Mike Miles Jr. was named USBWA All-District VII on Wednesday.

The award was voted on by members of the United States Basketball Writers Association. District VII includes teams from Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas.

Miles is averaging 15.0 points, which ranks fifth in the Big 12 Conference and 3.9 assists, which ranks sixth. He was the only player to rank in the top six in both points and assists. The sophomore guard scored 20 or more points six times and twice against two of the best teams in the conference, 26 against Baylor and 26 against Texas Tech.

Miles was joined on the all-district team by Timmy Allen (Texas), James Akinjo (Baylor), Kendric Davis (SMU), Tari Eason (LSU) Adam Flagler (Baylor), Ty Gordon (Nicholls), JD Notae (Arkansas), Bryson Williams (Texas Tech) and Jaylin Williams (Arkansas). Notae was player of the year and Mark Adams of Texas Tech was the coach of the year.

It adds to the list of postseason awards for the Highland Hills, Texas native that includes the NABC Second Team All-District 8 team, the Big 12 All-Tournament Team and All-Big 12 Second Team twice, by the league's coaches and the Associated Press.
