FORT WORTH, Texas – The No. 32 TCU men’s tennis team wrapped up spring break action by upending its third straight top-20 ranked opponent with a 4-0 sweep of No. 9 Columbia on Sunday at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.

The Horned Frogs (10-3) were quick out of the gate in doubles action against the Lions (10-3) as Alastair Gray and Trevor Johnsonimproved to 5-1 on the season with a 6-3 win on court two. Within moments of each other, TCU clinched the doubles point as the No. 1 pair and No. 41 ranked duo of Alex Rybakov and Guillermo Nuñez got the 6-4 victory at the top spot while Reese Stalder and Bertus Kruger scored their sixth straight win with a 6-3 victory on court three.

The momentum continued into singles action as TCU grabbed four first sets with Nuñez cruising to a 6-1, 6-0 victory on court four for point No. 2 in the match as the senior went 6-0 during spring break action. No. 72 Johnson got win No. 9 on the season with a 6-2, 6-2 win on court two, while No. 32 Rybakov clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-3 victory on court one over No. 38 Jackie Tang.

Quotes from the Match
Head Coach David Roditi
“Results wise, why wouldn’t I be ecstatic? We are 3-0 during this spring break swing and we had our full lineup for the fourth time this whole season and it shows when we have everyone out there and we are able to put up some good results. Columbia is ranked No. 9 in the nation but they didn’t have their best player today and we took advantage of that. I am really happy with the way our guys started the matches in doubles and in singles. When you are playing at home, it is great to win the doubles point and then everyone is ready for the first point in singles. It puts the visiting teams in tough situations. That is the part where I was so proud of our guys because we were in the opposite situation in Florida and we had to find a way to win. Guillermo Nuñez was 6-0 during spring break and I am really happy for him. (Alex) Rybakov got another win and we are getting some momentum. We will be playing one of the best teams in Texas A&M on Tuesday and that is going to be as tough of a match as we have faced all year. We are excited for it, we are ready for it and we are in a good time. Our guys will be fired up and that should be a great college match and we are looking forward to that.”
