GoFrogs: TCU Pummels Pepperdine

FORT WORTH –No. 5 TCU men's tennis (8-3) proved their mettle on Sunday afternoon, winning three three-set singles matches to take down Pepperdine, 4-2, at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center in Malibu, Calif.

TCU won the doubles point with room to spare before a nearly three-hour singles session featuring wins from Sander Jong, Tomas Jirousek and Luc Fomba, gave TCU it's eighth win of the campaign.

"We knew it was going to be a battle, and that's exactly what we got," head coach David Roditi said. "Their coaches have done a great job with the program. They have a bunch of really good players, so credit to them. I'm proud of our team for winning the way we did. We found a way to get to four points, which is really hard to do. It was tough conditions, on the road with the wind. And with us coming off a loss to USC, it was really awesome to see our guys pull out these incredible matches. We showed a lot of grit. It was as close of a dual as I've ever been involved in. Every match could have gone either way. Getting the doubles point was huge. Really great to get that doubles point and help us get this road win."

TCU got off to a strong start in singles play, winning four of six opening sets. Pepperdine responded in the second, winning five and forcing five matches into a third set. From there, TCU showed its muscle, taking three of four completed matches to secure the win.
