GoFrogs: Men's Golf Finish Ninth at Amer Ari Intercollegiate

WAIKOLOA, Hawai'i – Freshman Mateo Fernández de Oliveira led the TCU men's golf team Saturday as play concluded at the Amer Ari Intercollegiate at the Waikoloa Kings' Course in Waikoloa, Hawai'i.

In a 20-team field that included four of the nation's top 10 teams, TCU finished ninth. The Frogs shot 4-under 284 and finished 10-under 854 overall. No 1 ranked Pepperdine shot 38-under 825 to win the tournament.

Fernández de Oliveira made four birdies and played a bogey-free front nine to shoot 3-under 69. He totaled 7-under 209 for the week, a career best over five tournaments for the freshman, and tied for 18th.

Sophomore Justin Gums and Freshman Aymeric Laussot shot even-par 216 and tied for 56th place. Gums shot under par for the second-straight round at 1-under 71.

Also shooting under par was freshman Gustav Frimodt, who shot 2-under 70 to finish 1-over 217 and tied for 65th place.

The Frogs will return to action Feb. 21 at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate in Palm Desert, Calif.
