GoFrogs: Men's Golf Earns 30th Straight Regional Bid

FORT WORTH, Texas – TCU has been selected to make its 30th consecutive men's golf regional, May 13-15 in Austin.

The Horned Frogs earned a No. 5 seed in the 14-team regional hosted by Texas. Texas is the top seed for the 54-hole tournament, which will be played at the University of Texas Golf Club in Austin.

In his 32nd season as the head coach of the Horned Frogs, Bill Montigel has led TCU to an NCAA Regional every season since 1990. The Frogs are one of only three NCAA Division I teams to earn a regional bid each of the last 30 years under the same head coach. Only 15 programs have amassed the same streak with numerous head coaches.

Last season, TCU finished eighth at the regional in Stockton, Calif.

The top five teams in each of the six regions will advance to the NCAA Championships, held May 25-30 at The Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Ark. The Frogs have advanced to the NCAA Championship 19 times, six in the last 10 seasons, with the last appearance coming in 2016.

TCU will enter the regional playing its best golf of the season. The Frogs finished second at the Big 12 Championship, their best finish at the Big 12 in program history. Prior to conference, TCU had won two of the previous three tournaments, the Lake Charles Invitational and the Tiger Invitational.

The senior-laden team is led by Stefano Mazzoli, David Ravetto and Hayden Springer, all who rank in the top 100 according to GolfWeek and have won tournaments this season. No. 35 ranked Mazzoli won the Tiger Invitational, No. 61 Ravetto won the Lake Charles Invitational and No. 77 Springer won the Big 12 Championship, TCU's first since 2014.
