FORT WORTH – Four Big 12 Conference teams which made the NCAA Tournament will visit Schollmaier Arena next season as the men's basketball schedule matrix was announced on Thursday.

After playing 20 conference games last season, the schedule is back 18 Big 12 games for each of the 16 teams. Every team will play each other at least one time, either home or away, and play three teams twice, home and away.

The Horned Frogs will play Arizona, Arizona State, Cincinnati, Houston, Iowa State and West Virginia at home only and BYU, UCF, Colorado, Kansas, Texas Tech and Utah on the road only. Baylor, Kansas State and Oklahoma State will be played both home and away.

Opponents were selected based to best balance the schedule in terms of travel and competitiveness. A full Big 12 schedule will be released at a later date.

TCU returns six players from last season's team and welcomes seven newcomers for Jamie Dixon's 10th season as head coach of the Horned Frogs.

Away only at BYU, Kansas, and Tech sucks. I’m so sick of these stupid “matrix” schedules. Please go to divisions.

We played at Arizona, Iowa State, and Houston last year. That was way tougher!

We also doubled up on Tech which is considerable tougher than either K State or Okie State.

It is nice to play Baylor every year home and away, but I am curious to know why Tech is not automatic home and away games every year, too. They are our two biggest rivals. Dumb to not schedule us with both of them every year. There has to be a better way to do the scheduling and preserve our long-time rivalries.

I say that as a frustration across all sports honestly. Your SOS is basically luck of the draw every year. And not playing regional rivalries every year is just ridiculous. Like this year in football not having Tech and OSU, but playing Cincinnati and WVU is stupid. Matrix scheduling causes unnecessary chaos, bad viewership, and can hurt a team that would likely have given your conference a better shot in the playoffs.
