GoFrogs: Men’s 200 Medley Relay Breaks School Record

AUSTIN, Texas — The Horned Frogs began the swimming portion of the 2021 Big 12 Swimming & Diving Championships with a school record.

The men's 200 medley relay (Stefan Varga, Janis Silins, Piotr Sadlowski, Noah Cumby) broke the 2015 record by nearly a second and a half (1:26.03). Three of the four members are underclassmen.

The women's 200 medley relay of Ashleen O'Brien, Lauren Halliburton, Megan Morris and Katelyn Kenchel also clocked the third-fastest time in school history (1:40.78).

The 800 freestyle relays closed the night with TCU's men's squad recording the second fastest time in TCU history. Dusan Babic, Rasmus Pedersen, Michael Chwaluk and Nicco Velasquez combined for a time of 6:33.16. Like the 200 medley relay, the 800 free relay also consists of three underclassmen.

Team Standings
TCU's men are tied for second with West Virginia, collecting 66 points each on day one.

It's a three-way tie on the women's side for third place between TCU, Iowa State and West Virginia. The trio of schools all accumulated 60 points on the first day of competition. Texas leads the way with 80 with Kansas in second place with 68.

Day Two Tomorrow
Thursday's competition slate includes the 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free and 400 medley relays. Prelims begin at 9 a.m. with finals starting at 6 p.m. Finals will be streamed on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
