GoFrogs: Mazzoli Tied for Lead at NCI
FORT WORTH, Texas. – Senior Stefano Mazzoli will head into Tuesday's final round of the Nike Collegiate Invitational tied with the lead.
Mazzoli shot 3-under 67 in the second round on Monday, his best-ever at Colonial Country Club, and is 3-under 137 for the tournament. The Italian is tied with seven others, all from different schools.
Mazzoli played a bogey-free round Monday and will have a chance for his third-career collegiate tournament championship when he tees off at 8:36 a.m. on hole No. 10 Tuesday.
Senior Triston Fisher matched his opening round score of 1-over 71 and holed four birdies. He is tied for 20th at 2-over 142. Senior Pierre Mazier moved up five spots after shooting 2-over 72. He is tied for 32nd at 5-over 145.
As a team, TCU was two-strokes better than Sunday's round at 6-over 286. The Horned Frogs are in 10th place and just five strokes out of fifth. No. 7 Duke leads the talented field at 1-under 559.
The second round will have a normal start with the earliest parings going off hole No. 1 at 7:30 a.m. TCU will begin at 8 a.m. on hole No. 10 with Fort Worth's Turner MacLean on the tee box.
