2013 ALL-BIG 12 MEN'S TENNIS TEAM

FORT WORTH—Sophomores Nick Chappell and Will Stein and senior Orlando Superlano collected conference honors for TCU men’s tennis Wednesday when they earned spots on the All-Big 12 Team in a vote of the league’s coaches.

Chappell and Superlano were both tabbed all-conference in singles, while Chappell and Stein earned spots on the All-Big 12 doubles squad. Chappell’s honors marked the second and third all-league considerations of his career following an All-Mountain West Singles Team selection in 2012, when he was also named the MW Freshman of the Year. Superlano and Stein earned the first such accolades of their careers.

Chappell, the Horned Frogs’ top singles player, was one of 12 individuals named to the All-Big 12 Singles Team. He won eight matches at the No. 1 position in spring dual-match play, including two in conference action and two against ranked opponents, and finished the regular season No. 116 in the ITA national rankings.

Stein paired with Chappell to share the Big 12 No. 1 doubles championship after the squad went 4-1 in league competition and 17-5 overall this season. The duo will enter NCAA Regional play as the nation’s 48th-ranked doubles tandem according to the ITA.

Superlano posted a 24-8 overall singles record this season and was a team-best 19-5 in spring dual-match play. He went 3-2 in Big 12 matches and owns a three-match winning streak entering this weekend's NCAA Regional.

TCU returns to NCAA Regionals for the first time since 2010 this Friday when it takes on Drake in Los Angeles at the LA Tennis Center. First serve between the third-seeded Frogs and second-seeded Bulldogs has been set for Noon CDT.
